First of all, I would like to thank my drum teacher Francis for allowing me to expose a little bit about the awesome musical journey we had together through the past years. I am very grateful to him due to everything he taught me. I couldn’t be luckier to have him, not only as my drum teacher, but also as a friend who always supported me in my way through the Music World.
The year was 2012. I had passed an entire year (2011-2012) without even touching a drum set (must admit that I was somewhat demotivated). One day, my mom (and I am so thankful to her too) approached me with the best idea ever: I was going to start taking drum lessons in a drum institute called, at the time, Bateras Beat. When I heard her saying those words I just froze. Inside I was so damn happy, not only because I would meet new people who shared the same feelings as I did with music, but also because I had this sort of feeling that this was going to be a turning-point in my life. And this is when I met Francis, a long brown-haired drummer, with a Heavy Metal style. At the beginning I was so rusty that I couldn’t even play a simple double stroke on the Bass Drum! It was so awful! I was so nervous, but Francis, man… he was a holy soul, so comprehensive, gentle, and talked with such a quiet voice. I knew right away that we would become good friends.
I can say today that meeting this guy definitely changed my life. He had a huge influence on my technique, always teaching me new beats and rhythms, and on my perspective of how to be the best possible Drummer. I still hope that we cross each other’s path in the Music World someday. Thank you for all the headbangin’ moments and for being the best teacher/friend that I could ever ask for.
See ya, boss!!
